A little more history

500 years ago Seville witnessed the beginning of a deed that changed History: The first time to complete a journey around the World. Fernando de Magallanes left the port of Seville on August 10, 1519 at the head of five naos (antique ships) and 239 men. The objective was to reach the Spice Islands through a new route that entailed crossing The Indies. After a
number of challenges, including the death of Magellan himself, the odyssey was completed by Juan Sebastián Elcano. On September 8, 1522, nao Victoria and 18 sailors led by Elcano arrived back at the port of Seville. The first Tour of the World had taken place.

The Past View Magallanes-Elcano experience allows you to see and feel what that port of Seville was like in the Golden Century, and travel back in time to that glorious day when the first round the world trip began. You will witness the Portuguese endeavours to sabotage the voyage. You will be at the preparation of the trip, immersed within the scene. You will meet the characters who forged the history of the Circumnavigation: Admiral Fernando de Magallanes, Juan Sebastian Elcano, Pigafetta… and you will even walk virtually through the ship’s hold of Nao Victoria. We are waiting for you.
